One of my post-retirement goals was to learn how to sew “right.” Oh, I had sewn things when my children were young, but to be honest, sewing was a frustrating exercise for me, and the things I created, well, they were best only seen in dim light…aka…Halloween costumes.
For over a year I took both group classes and private instruction from Keegan. Keegan is a terrific teacher—kind, positive and encouraging. He patiently helped me “unlearn” bad habits, taught me how to use my Bernina machines properly, and skillfully helped me incorporate techniques to improve my end product.Fast forward 2+ years—I have lost count of the many things sewing projects I’ve completed. Whenever I have a question, am looking for creative brainstorming partner, or can’t figure out my machine—Keegan is a mere text or phone call away. He is a committed, exceptional teacher.

I have had a serger for many years and I thought that the only thing I could do with it was sew straight seams in clothing construction. Through the classes that I have taken with Keegan, I have learned that there is so much more that a serger can do! He has taught me with patience and has been able to reach me on my level of sewing so that I understand the method he is using and then be able to do it on my own on another project. I always enjoy the classes he teaches and look forward to learning many more things from him.
There are so many things one can say about Keegan and his sewing experience and expertise. I've been especially pleased with Keegan's answers to questions I have during an embroidery class. Occasionally, I get stuck. If my question can't be answered with a few words, Keegan will come to my sewing machine and show me exactly what I need to do. He does this for all of his students, which has no end of value for those who are slower to pick up new techniques or who haven't had much experience with embroidery. He shows us HOW and doesn't do the work for us. Keegan exudes endless patience with his students, assesses their abilities and teaches to their level without making them feel inadequate.
